The dividing head is a commonly used mechanical device used to accurately divide rotating workpieces on machine tools. Here is how to use the dividing head:
1. Preparation:
Make sure that the table on the machine tool and indexing head is firmly fixed and stable.
Clean and prepare the workpiece for segmentation.
Install a suitable cutting tool, such as a knife or cutting insert.
2. Adjust the dividing head:
Adjust the indexing disc and indexing plate on the indexing head according to the required division amount and angle.
The indexing plate is a round metal plate with a series of equally spaced holes cut into it that is used to locate and lock the workpiece.
The indexing plates on the indexing plate can be used for different division modes by switching or moving.
3. Positioning the workpiece:
Place the workpiece on the machine tool's table and secure it with a fixture or clamping device.
Depending on the required split point, use an appropriate method to position the workpiece on the indexing plate.
4. Start segmentation:
Rotate the workpiece manually or automatically to divide it into the required number of parts.
Depending on the design of the dividing head, the workpiece can be rotated by means of a handle, a button or a CNC system.
As the workpiece rotates, the indexing head automatically locks each indexing point of the workpiece to ensure accurate division.
5. Complete the segmentation:
After all required divisions have been completed, the rotation of the workpiece is stopped.
Check the split points for precision and accuracy.
As required, other machine tool operations can be used to complete the workpiece, such as milling, drilling or grinding.
Please note that when using the dividing head, relevant safety operating procedures should be followed to ensure the safety of the operator. Before using the dividing head, it is best to read and follow the operating manual of the dividing head and the operating instructions of the machine tool.
